Committee to Clean and Beautify Ambridge - This is the volunteer group that has been picking up trash off the streets on Sunday mornings! You've seen 'em! Come on out to help and make new friends! Click here for the group history
click on photo for larger image Saturday’s GREAT PA CLEAN UP was a big success! Approximately 70-80 volunteers of all ages participated. We separated into 5 teams to clean different parts of Ambridge and worked from 9am to noon, collecting 68 bags of litter. Afterwards, we enjoyed time together snacking on hot dogs & pizza. Many people and organizations helped to make the event a success:
Of course, this event could not have succeeded without the tireless efforts of Roberta Sciulli who organized the troops. Special thanks also to members of the Committee who donated their time and efforts to make it all possible. $5000.00 grant awarded to Committee to Clean and Beautify Ambridge by Pittsburgh 250 Community Connections! The grant will be used to construct a water element in P.J. Caul Park. The fountain will be constructed by a local Ambridge artisan. Read application.
Community Connections is a grassroots initiative of Pittsburgh 250 supporting projects that encourage civic engagement throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania, commemorate the region’s 250th anniversary, and provide lasting value to communities and the region as a whole. More than 500 applications for funding were submitted by individuals, community groups, and organizations to celebrate the “Pride and Progress” of Southwestern Pennsylvania—the theme of Community Connections. A region-wide community decision making process selected 100 projects to share $1 million in funding for events and activities occurring throughout the anniversary year of 2008.
If you would like to know more about our group and our plans for 2008, please feel free to call Ray at (724) 266-1930 or Bob at (724) 266-1158.
